
HISTORY
Originally
a Coaching Inn, the Cairnbaan Hotel was built in the latter part of the
18th Century during the construction of the Crinan Canal.
Cairnbaan
Hotel is a special place to hundreds of people and has many claims to
fame. The hotel has played host to several famous guests, including The
Princess Royal, Vice Admiral Lawrence, President Bill Clinton and
Congresswoman Hilary Clinton.
In
quite recent years Cairnbaan has been an Indian Restaurant and at one
point was considered the wildest pub in Mid Argyll with goats and other
animals sharing space at the bar!
The
hotel is now a stylish, relaxed and pleasant place and has been awarded three
stars and a rosette with the
AA. Cairnbaan is also among only 12 Hotels given the status
of Scotland's Heritage Hotels.
